Story Picture

Make a mediascape that explores the same space viewed by different creatures of different sizes - create an insect's-eye view of a field, then a bird's-eye view, based on the actual local wildlife of the area.

Students can think about the difference between the views (a close-up blade of grass and the field from high above), discuss perspective, point of view and the differences between the animals.

The process of collating information about the place before making the media files could involve bug hunts, observing and taking photographs of the flora and fauna, logging the environmental data and using different sensors, and checking if the conditions would be right for the particular insect and bird they want to represent in the mediascape.
