Take a fixed landmark, like a tree. Use it to add snippets of information about the place and the people who have lived or still live near it.
You could record local people's stories and memories about the place, or historical information from past times.
You could then take the stories and histories from one place, and 're-map' them over another, seeing how this changes the impression and experience the users get.
