As well as using maps that you have made in the free HP Map Aligner software (see information on how to make your own map using your own image), you can create your own maps (by drawing or scanning one.) Whether you do this, or get your map from the OS, the following steps explain how to convert the image so it can be used in your mediascape
In mscape maker, click on Tools and then on Create map from image
This will open a Wizard window
Click Next
If using an HP Map Aligner .MAD file, choose the second option as you have recorded the coordinates on a PDA and now want to make a map.
If you are using coordinates from somewhere else (Ordnance Survey or other sources), then chose the first option as you have your map and coordinates.
The third option allows you to create a map file without any coordinates associated with it.
Click Next
Click the Browse button and find your map
Select the map file you want to use and click Open
When you have chosen your map it should show in the preview window.
Click Next
Select the country that you are working with and then the coordinate grid system that you are using eg Great Britain, British grid
Click Next
Type in the coordinates that you have here. You will need to know the coordinates of at least three of your corners
Once you have put them in and then click in the fourth box, you will be able to select Next
On the next screen, click Finish.
You now need to choose where to save the Maplib file you have created.
