If you have a Storage Card (flash card of similar) for your PDA, we recommend that you save the project there because of the size of all of the sound and image files.

1. Click 'Player'

Click on the Player button in the top row of buttons

2. Set destination

Click on Set Destination Directory

Set directory

3. Copy to PDA

Click Copy - the whole project will be copied on to the PDA.

You will see the files being copied across

Wait until this process is complete before continuing, note that it can take a long time and look like nothing is happening if you are copying over lots of big files (especially music files).

4. Copying your Mediascape using the mscape library

If the mediascape fails to copy to your PDA using the method described above, go to File, Save for Web and save your mediascape.

5. First time set up issues

If it is the first time the mscape player has been used on your PDA, it will open a window asking you what sort of location sensing device you are using.

If you are using GPS then make sure you have selected the right way of connecting to the GPS unit that you are using.

Different PDAs will have different labels for all the connecting ports (it might be Port no.6, or it may be another port), so you will have to check with your technical support to see what option to make here. If you aren't using GPS then make sure you select no.0 (Disabled).

Once all this has been done, you will see a window as below:

You will notice that one option on the main mscape player menu screen is 'GPS'. This is where you can check the GPS connection and reconnect your GPS device if necessary:

6. Open your project on the PDA

Click Load Mediascape and then choose your project from the list that comes up:

Don't worry if your screen looks blank on your PDA, this is because this is how the screen will look until you trigger a picture to display within your mediascape.

If you want to view the mediascape map on your PDA, first click on the mediascape icon at the bottom left of your PDA screen (this will take you back to the mscape player main menu at any time.)

Now click on the Designer Tools item. The mediascape will now be opened in 'Place' view, so you should see the map for your mediascape.

Here you can see whether the area the mediascape thinks you are in is correct.

Another thing you can do on this screen is go to Tools, Emulate Position Mode and move a character about the screen to check your regions are working

Tips

To stop your PDA switching off to save power after three minutes, on your PDA go to Start> Settings> System > Power > Advanced and uncheck the box that says when it is unused on battery power device will turn off - otherwise the PDA may switch itself off as you walk around and you will lose the Bluetooth connection.

Also try going to Start> Settings> System > Backlight and uncheck the box that turns off the backlight if the device is not used when it is on battery power.
